Question: Who all are eligible to become members of the Kerala State Co-operative Employees’ Welfare Board?


Answer: Permanent employees working in co-operative institutions under the administrative control of the Registrar of Co-operative Societies and other government departments, boards under the Co-operation Department, as well as individuals working on a commission-basis, are eligible for membership.

Question: To whom should the application for membership and other financial assistance be submitted?


Answer: Applications must be submitted to the Head Office through the Regional Office of the Kerala State Co-operative Employees’ Welfare Board.

Question: What are the forms to be submitted to the Board for membership?


Answer: Option Form (Annexure-I) and Nomination Form (Annexure-II).

Question: What is the relevant “Option Date” for membership?


Answer: The date on which the employee joined service.

Question: Can contributions be paid to the Board before membership is approved and a code number is received?


Answer: No, it is not allowed. Those who remit contributions in this manner will not be consid-ered as members. Consequently, they will not be eligible for any benefits from the Board.

Question: What is the current monthly rate of the Welfare Board contribution?


Answer: If the employee’s total gross salary/commission is below ₹15,000, the contribution is ₹150. If it is ₹15,000 or above, the contribution is ₹250. For both categories, the institution’s matching contribution is ₹150. (Effective from 22-02-2024)

Question: Is medical financial assistance available from the Welfare Board?


Answer: Yes, it is available. If member employees or their dependents undergo treatments that are included in the medical schedule of the Board Rules, medical financial assistance will be granted subject to prescribed conditions.

Question: Is death financial assistance available from the Welfare Board?


Answer: Yes, it is available. financial assistance will be granted to the dependents of members who pass away while in service.

Question: What other welfare benefits are available to members?


Answer: * Educational encouragement Cash Awards for children.

  • Annual educational scholarships up to the age of 18 for the children of employees who die while in service.
  • Upon retirement from service, the total contribution remitted to the Board along with a 10% incentive will be refunded to the employee.

Question: For which courses have Cash Awards been instituted?


Answer: * SSLC, Plus-Two (including CBSE, ICSE, ISC): Full A+ / A1 / Grade 1.
• JDC, HDC & BM, and Co-operation as an optional subject in all other De-gree/Postgraduate degrees: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd ranks at the State level.
• B.Tech, M.Tech, B.Sc Nursing, M.Sc Nursing: 1st rank at the State level.
• Professional Degree Courses like MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BVSc: 1st rank at the State level.

Question: Apart from educational courses, are Cash Awards instituted for any other categories?


Answer: Yes. Cash Awards will also be given to those who achieve excellence in cultural and sports competitions at the State or National level.
