Educational Cash Awards (Rule 26 (f)
The Board distributes cash awards every year to the children of member of the board in following categories.
- Categories and Award Amounts• 10th & 12th Standard: Students of SSLC/THSLC and Plus 2/VHSC across all syllabi, including CBSE, ICSE, and ISC, who score an A+/A1 grade in all subjects will receive a cash award of ₹10,000 each.
• Co-operative Courses: For courses such as HDC & BM, JDC, and Graduation or Post-Graduation degrees with Co-operation as an elective subject, cash awards are given to students securing the top three positions at the state level:
o First position: ₹10,000
o Second position: ₹7,000
o Third position: ₹5,000
• Professional Engineering & Nursing Courses: A cash award of ₹15,000 is given to the student securing the highest marks at the state level in professional courses such as B.Tech, M.Tech, B.Sc Nursing, and M.Sc Nursing.
• Medical & Allied Health Courses: A cash award of ₹25,000 is given to students securing the highest mark at the state level in professional or postgraduate courses for MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, and BVSc.
• Cultural Competitions: High School and Higher Secondary students who secure an ‘A’ grade in the State School Kalolsavam (Arts Festival) conducted by the Kerala Government General Education Department and kalolsavam directly conducted by CBSE/ICSE will receive a cash award of ₹5,000.
• Sports & Games: A cash award of ₹5,000 is given to:
o School students who secure first or second place in state-level school games/sports competitions, or those who participate in national-level competitions.
o College students who secure first, second, or third place in inter-university level competitions.
Application Terms and Deadlines
• General Deadline: The application in the prescribed form for the cash award must be prepared and submitted to the Board before the last date declared by the board. Specific circular for cash award will be issued by the board every year. Cash awards are distributed each year to those who passed with top marks in that specific academic year’s examinations.
• Professional Degrees Provision: Since professional degree certificates and mark/grade sheets are usually not available immediately after the declaration of results, applications from professional degree students who passed their final year exams between April of the previous year and March of the current year will be considered for the current year’s cash awards.
• House Surgeoncy / Internship Warning: Waiting until after the completion of house surgeoncy or an internship to apply may result in the loss of eligibility/opportunity for the cash award. Therefore, it is sufficient to submit the application by including a certified copy of the examination results and the provisional certificate.
Required Documents for Application
To apply for the educational cash award, the following documents must be submitted:
1. Application Form: The application in the prescribed format (Annexure IX), countersigned with the office seal by a government officer not below the rank of a Taluk-level officer holding administrative control over the institution.
2. Attested Academic Records: A copy of the certificate and mark list attested by the Headmaster, Principal, or a Gazetted Officer.
3. Relationship Proof: An attested copy of a document proving the relationship between the employee (applicant) and the student, or the bio-data page of the SSLC book.
4. Percentage Certificate (For Professional Degrees): For professional degree courses where only grade points are recorded on the certificate/mark list, a copy of the percentage certificate obtained from the university or institution where they studied must be attached.
