Annual Scholarship (Rule 26 (g))


The Managing Committee will grant an annual scholarship amount, determined from time to time, for the continuous education of the children of employees who were members of the Board and passed away while in service. This scholarship is eligible until the child completes 18 years of age.

Terms and Conditions for the Scholarship


1. Eligibility Period: Only the legal heirs of employees who passed away while in service after February 22, 2024 (the date the scholarship provision was incorporated into the rules of the Kerala State Co-operative Employees Welfare Board) are eligible to apply.

2. Age Limit: The scholarship is applicable for the education of children under 18 years of age whose parents were member employees of the Welfare Board at the time of their death while working in co-operative societies/institutions. \

3. Basic Criteria: Children under 18 years of age belong to employees who submitted their option under Board Rule 19 (b) and are eligible to receive post-death financial assistance under Rule 26 (a) are entitled to this educational scholarship.

4. No Arrears/Defaults: If an employee passes away while in service but had defaulted on their welfare fund contributions, the institution’s contributions, or both, their children will not be eligible for the scholarship.

5. Application Timeline: Applications must be submitted through the Regional Office of the Board to the Additional Registrar/Secretary-Treasurer within two months from the commencement of the academic year.

6. Continuous Submission: For the son/daughter of an employee who died while in service, applications must be submitted every academic year until they attain 18 years of age.

7. Disbursal Basis: The academic year is considered to begin on June 1st every year, and the scholarship will be granted as a single lump-sum installment on an annual basis.

8. Expiration of Eligibility: Eligibility for the scholarship ends precisely when the child reaches 18 years of age. This eligibility is determined based on June 1st of the starting academic year.

o If a child completes 18 years of age on or after June 2nd, they will remain eligible to receive the scholarship for that particular academic year.

9. Authorized Applicants: For children under 18 years of age, the application in Annexure XI can be submitted by the person designated as a nominee in the option form at the time the employee joined the Welfare Board/ the legally wedded wife/husband of the deceased employee/the Secretary of the co-operative society/institution where the employee worked.

10. Institutional Certificate: Certificate from the Headmaster / Headmistress / Principal of the educational institution where the child is studying must be attached as specified in the application form prescribed in Annexure XI

11. Processing and Forwarding: The Secretary of the co-operative society/institution must verify the applications received from the legal heirs or nominees. If found eligible, the application must be forwarded to the Additional Registrar/Secretary-Treasurer via the Board’s Regional Office, accompanied by the Managing Committee’s resolution and all necessary supporting documents.

12. Signatures and Counter-Signatures: The application in Annexure XI must be signed by the Secretary/Chief Executive Officer and the Managing Committee President/Chairman of the co-operative society/institution. Additionally, it must be counter-signed by a government officer not below the rank of a Taluk-level officer from the administrative department.

13. Special Provision for Apex & Agricultural Societies: For applications from Apex Co-operative Societies, the signature of the Concurrent Auditor of that institution is sufficient. For Primary Co-operative Agricultural Rural Development Banks, the signature of the Valuation Officer / Assistant Registrar is sufficient.

Scholarship Rates (Per Academic Year)


The scholarship is granted for studies anywhere in India under State or Central syllabi at the following rates:

Up to Class 7: ₹1,500 (One Thousand Five Hundred Rupees only)
Class 8 to Class 10: ₹2,500 (Two Thousand Five Hundred Rupees only)
Plus Two / ITI / Polytechnic: ₹3,500 (Three Thousand Five Hundred Rupees only)
Any Degree Course (including regular professional degrees at any recognized university in India): ₹5,000 (Five Thousand Rupees only)

Required Documents for Scholarship Application


The following documents must be compiled and submitted to apply:

(A) The application form in the format prescribed under Annexure XI.
(B) A copy of the Managing Committee’s resolution requesting the Additional Registrar/Secretary of the Welfare Board to sanction the scholarship.
(C) A certified copy of the death certificate of the employee.
(D) A Family Membership Certificate issued by the competent revenue authorities.
(E) A certified copy of the birth certificate of the student.
(F) A copy of the Board’s order sanctioning the post-death financial assistance. If it has not been sanctioned yet, an explanation letter regarding the status from the Chief Executive Officer of the institution must be produced.
